Real-Time Raman Monitoring during Photocatalytic Epoxidation of Cyclohexene over V-Ti/MCM-41 Catalysts

چکیده
A series of Vand/or Ti-loading MCM-41 catalysts are successfully synthesized with a hydrothermal method. The photocatalytic and thermal epoxidations of cyclohexene in the presence of tert-butyl hydroperoxide (t-BuOOH) were investigated with real-time monitored by NIR-Raman spectroscopy. It suggests that both Vand Ti-loading can be responsible for the cyclohexene epoxidation. Moreover, the complementary behavior of Vand Ti-loading may be related to a similar role of activation. Interestingly, the progress of the photo-epoxidation on V0.25Ti2/MCM-41 photocatalyst was monitored by changes in intensity of the characteristic Raman bands without interference from the UV-light irradiation. The result, for the first time, reveals that cyclohexene was directly photo-epoxidized to 1,2-epoxycyclohexane by t-BuOOH during the reaction. A possible mechanism of cyclohexene photo-epoxidation is also proposed for this study. OPEN ACCESS Catalysts 2015, 5 519

Modified Titanium Content in Titanosilicates Mesoporous Molecular Sieves MCM-41 as Selective Catalyst for Epoxidation of Alkenes
Ti-MCM-41 was synthesized at pH 3, 7 and 11. The titanium content was determined by AAS and found to be 4%, 3.2% and 4.5%, respectively. In order to increase the titanium content in Ti-MCM-41, Ti(IV) ions were grafted onto Ti-MCM-41 using TiCl4 in toluene and Ti(OBu)4 in ethanol. The incorporation of Ti was determined to be 28% and 30%, respectively. The oxidation of olefins such as cyclopenten...

The light irradiation parameters, including the wavelength spectrum and intensity of light source, can significantly influence a photocatalytic reaction. This study examines the propylene photo-epoxidation over V-Ti/MCM-41 photocatalyst by using artificial sunlight (Xe lamp with/without an Air Mass 1.5 Global Filter at 1.6/18.5 mW·cm(-2)) and ultraviolet light (Mercury Arc lamp with different f...

متن کاملTi-MCM-41 materials synthesised at room temperature as catalysts for cyclisation of (±)-citronellal
Citronellal can be cyclised to produce isopulegol, which is an intermediate in the synthesis of menthols. These chemicals are all used in the fragrance industry and menthol is also an important product used as a flavour, a pharmaceutical and in oral care. The cyclisation of citronellal proceeds readily with various homogeneous catalysts, but the catalyst frequently cannot be recovered and reuse...

Metallocalixarenes were grafted onto silica using a surface organometallic approach and shown to be active and selective catalysts for epoxidation of alkenes using organic hydroperoxides. Calixarene-Ti(IV) precursors were anchored at surface densities from 0.1 to near-monolayer coverages (0.025-0.25 calixarene nm(-2)). Several spectroscopic methods independently detected calixarene-Ti(IV) conne...
